Food Bank of Northern Indiana

The Food Bank of Northern Indiana works in partnership with the community to feed the hungry, increase awareness of the effects of hunger and lead programs designed to alleviate hunger. Share your time and talent with the Food Bank! Individual and group volunteers are vital to the Food Bank’s operation. In 2018, 10,409 volunteers donated 31,239 hours to the Food Bank. We need you!

Ongoing projects include:
Sorting and separating food donations.
Repacking/labeling bread and other food products (dry , frozen and perishable).
Fulfilling orders in the warehouse.
Assembling weekend food packs for our Food 4 Kids Backpack Program.
Special cleaning and organization projects.
Assisting with office operations including mailings, computer work and filing.
Assisting clients in their shopping experience at the Community Food Pantry of St. Joseph County.

Volunteer shifts are available Monday – Friday from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. at the Food Bank. Parking is free and our facility is located at 702 Chapin Street in downtown South Bend. We’re located on a TRANSPO bus route with a stop directly at the Food Bank.
