Sucediendo 1 al 7 de agosto de 2021 , Mejor. Semana. Siempre. es una colección de experiencias de una semana en South Bend que celebra la creatividad, la cultura y el progreso como comunidad. Es una invitación a celebrar nuestra ciudad y las cosas que son importantes para nosotros. Es una oportunidad para participar en experiencias que se combinan para escribir la historia de South Bend. Se necesitan voluntarios durante toda la semana para ayudar con la hospitalidad, instalar y derribar en varios lugares de South Bend.

Teacher’s Store Check In

The Teacher Store, located at Feed the Children needs 2 volunteers on a weekly basis from starting Thursday, May 19th through the end of the school year to help with checking in teachers to shop. Volunteers need experience with Excel spreadsheets.

Volunteers are needed  every Thursday from 2:45 until 5:45 PM. Volunteers need to be committed to doing this consistently for the specified 3 hours.

Home Run for Life 2022

Help support Beacon Children’s Hospital during the South Bend Cubs’ Home Run for Life games! Volunteers are needed to pass donation buckets around a section of the stadium during the third inning to benefit Beacon Children’s Hospital.

Each volunteer receives one free ticket to attend that night’s game. Only 40 volunteer tickets are available for each game, so don’t wait to sign up!

Ongoing needs at the Food Bank of Northern Indiana

The Food Bank of Northern Indiana has ongoing volunteer needs and could use a helping hand

  • Sorting and separating food donations.
  • Packing bags and boxes for their programs.
  • Special cleaning and organization projects.
  • Assisting the office with operations.
  • Assisting clients in their shopping experience at the Community Food Pantry of St. Joseph County, a drive-thru pantry located onsite at the Food Bank.

The Cove – Bilingual volunteers

The Cove – Elkhart  (formerly Shepherd’s Cove) is seeking bilingual volunteers to help with translating to our Spanish-speaking community.

Volunteers are needed weekly on Wednesdays from 5:00 PM – 6:30 PM and Friday from 10:00 AM – 12:30 PM.

Ruthmere Museum

We look forward to a busy 2022 season for Ruthmere and Havilah Beardsley House. One thing is certain we can’t meet all our needs without the help of our dedicated volunteers!

Ruthmere has an abundance of volunteer opportunities for persons with a wide variety of interests.  Docent tour guides at both Ruthmere and the Havilah Beardsley House site, the Elkhart County School Field Trip Project, collections work, gardening, special events assistance. Training opportunities are available now for the upcoming tour season!

Ruthmere Museum & Havilah Beardsley House

BLS certified first responders needed

BLS certified volunteers (techs, nurses, medics) are needed in the event of a medical emergency at Granger Community Church. Responsibilities are having a walkie talkie during church services (you need not be a member of the church) and respond to identify if true EMS and transport is required.

Volunteers are needed on Saturdays at 5:30 PM, Sundays at 9:30 AM and 11:30 AM.

Feed the Children

Every Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday (except August 30th) volunteers are needed to help pack boxes for Feed the Children. There is a minimum of 2 volunteers and a maximum of 25 volunteers to pack.

IMPORTANT! Wear comfortable clothing and shoes – it is a warehouse setting. No dangling jewelry is allowed. Please be mindful of the heat – the warehouse is not air-conditioned.

Volunteers just need to show up on scheduled days between 2:00 and 4:00 PM and ask for Darlene Anderson when they arrive. Volunteers will need to sign in and complete a Release of Liability form.

Volunteer with Habitat for Humanity

Volunteering with Habitat for Humanity of Elkhart County and the ReStore provides an opportunity for individuals, groups and organizations to support Habitat’s mission and build skills, relationships and communities. You may volunteer in a variety of roles at construction, in the ReStore, or at special events. No experience is required!
