READ UNITED connects community volunteers with students in Elkhart and Goshen Community Schools. There are three volunteer programs throughout the school year. “Real Men Read” and “Spring Into Reading” are held in the Fall and Spring, respectively. Volunteers read to a classroom 30 minutes a week, for a total of four weeks. “Reading Camps” are a one-to-one mentoring opportunity with a 2nd grade student struggling with reading skills. Volunteers spend one or two hours a week (after school) reading and playing skill-building games with a student. Volunteers may also be Subs. Reading Camps for eight weeks from late January- mid-March. The Read United programs are a great way to enrich the life of a child in our local communities!
