Acts of Service

Unity Gardens Inc.

  • Homelessness and Food Insecurities

Unity Gardens unique dignified free food model has connected our community to fresh produce for 8 years in the St. Joseph County through ~40 open gardens, free wellness programs & classes reaching thousands of families & children to reduce food insecurity & social isolation.
“How can we provide food security while empowering those we help? What if we could reshape the narrative of the soup kitchen and erase the line separating us from those we serve? Is there a way to make better use of city spaces, creating green places in under-served communities?” 9 years ago, Unity Gardens was founded to address these issues and has now become a uniquely dignified health and wellness model to address food security and nature deprivation issues. We are growing a tradition of service and sharing in our community that serves as a template for others throughout the nation.
